Monday 19th May - 7th day of walk - Part 1 - leaving Hotel Glasgow at Oia to Baiona. My first day back after injury. Supposed to be a tough hilly 14.5km day. Ended up 23km after walking around beautiful Baiona. Christopher Columbus sailed from here in 1492 to the Americas.

Start of a tough 20 km segment through the hills to Baiona.
Friendly reception.
Breakfast to nourish the tough trek ahead.

View from our breakfast table.

David at the start.

Wet weather gear for some early showers. Cleared up soon. Have had amazing weather throughout. Sunshine with occasional clouds. Temps between 11°C and 27°C.

A windmill !

Rugged Spanish coastline.

Climbing higher.

Resting up on the upward climb.

A pause to admire the scenery.

Up higher.

Some views  !

And this.

Wattle like flowers on the way. Many reminiscent of the Adelaide Hills. Arum lillies, lantana, morning glory, agapanthus, seaside daisies, hydrangeas etc.

Closer to Baiona.

Up higher.

Still higher.

The lovely ancient laneway as a shortcut into Baiona. Shown to us by a local.
